Hectic Week
This week has been pretty hectic. I had a 5 page paper due Tuesday along with a genogram, a 5 page paper due Friday on “The Road” (good book!) and PTSD, and a 10 page paper on the brain and video gaming that was also due on Friday. Did I say I was busy?
But I have it all done. Now all that is left over is the Take-home essay I have to do for Sociology and 2 or 3 exams next week and I’ll be done with college for now!… Until next semester.
To celebrate, I will show you my more favorite of my photos: pictures of a telephone! Wooo!

Random 1
We are a people -a world- without whispers. Instead, we shout obscenities and sign harshly at one another in an attempt to accumulate atypical responses. The offended retort with rhetoric not usually offered to one’s friends or relatives. I think this is the
We should be doing more. Malicious makings can only lead to moronic melodies with flats all round. Fortuitous are those who frolic with free floating fingers (and not just the middle). Why don’t we ever stop and smell the flowers anymore?

Skedaddle
I participated in a walk/run today. It was called a “Skedaddle 5k” and it was approximately 3.2 miles. We ran/walked on the USCA Cross Country course called “Pacer Path.” Here’s my number:
It equals 13, gasp! Funny story about that: I’m born on June 13th, my brother and I are thirteen months aparts and he’s born on July 13th, a friday on which he was birthed. Yeah, so that’s an important number for me.
There was a very large hill near the end. Almost killed me. Found a group to run with though so… go us! Haha I sprinted the last .2, crazy me. I finished in 44:31 minutes. Hoping to improve that but since this was my first race my two objectives were to a) finish b) not be last place and I accomplished both! ^_^
What have you guys and gals done that you can be proud of? Could be some small act of kindness or curing H1N1… one or the other. Your pick.

Sometimes
Sometimes, I think I have died a long time ago. Like I am living an alternative future right now.
My parents told me that I ate rat poison when I was two and they had my stomach pumped at the hospital. I don’t remember much about that. Actually, I don’t remember much about my childhood in general. Maybe people don’t remember much?
Sometimes I feel like I wake up in the morning with memories of me, the me I know, and then I have a 3rd person perspective about it. I don’t know. It’s strange.
Maybe someone else out there feels the same way? Comment below and tell me about your experiences! Strange or unstrange!

‘Til Death Do Us Part
Love is fun. Many people throughout the ages have tried to define love. From Socrates to George Bush (okay, wierd example), but what is it really? I believe its different for all of us. I’ll share with you what it means to me.
I believe love is that special feeling you have for someone after you’ve known them for a while. That companionate love that comes from being intimate with someone; sharing your goals, your fears, your secrets with one another is not even a job for the other. And you really… trust that person to be a secret-keeper. My girlfriend Susan is a person I can trust.
As I’ve said before, love is different for everyone. What is it to you guys? Do you even believe in love? Why or why not?
Edit: As of 11/17/09, Susan and I have gone out with each other for 2 1/2 years! Woo! Go us! Love you, Susan!

Quite literally. I found this little treasure on the back of a stop sign while walking through Austin. I thought this was a pretty interesting subject to write on. (I know what you’re thinking… when is he gonna talk about his own town? Or, for that matter, poetry?? haha)
My first thoughts: Change? This is something promised to us. Some of us want it so bad, we blame people in power for going so slow. Change, though, is a gradual process and it won’t speed up… even if you pay it, beat it to a bloody pulp, threaten it, or even blackmail it. Change is a stone in a river, polished to a gleam after decades of work.
Change is something we also fear. We like the idea of normality: of never being surprised, of the day-in and day-out of a schedule, of being “free” from extra choices. It sounds nice, right?
I hope Change won’t be on the back of a stop sign forever.

Sign, Sign, Everywhere a Sign
My friends found out recently that I love taking photos of random signs. I never realized that I had this infatuation until I started taking pictures of signs. But! I didn’t just take pictures of normal, everyday signs. Some are broken, laid on the grass of a separate ally, and others are defective.
Here’s a few for example’s sake:
I guess I like signs because they are symbols. Each sign represents something we’re supposed to do, be it yielding, stopping, handicap-only, or whatever else. It kind of makes me think about how much emphasis we place on objects. On things that we Need to know or should know. For example, you’d think people would let the older generation get the better parking spots… but no. We have to give them spots with a blue square. Courtesy much?

Intro to My Blog
“Hello World!” I guess that is fitting because I am talking to the world. The world wide web. Everybody that has access to a computer can just look up my blog with the click of a mouse and the tap of some keys. Amazing.
Tonight I just want to state that I will try to update this blog once every week by telling stories about my life, philosophies I’ve thought about, and random junk I find.
Thanks for stopping by and expect more soon.

Recently went to Austin. I’m going to have several photos posted here exclusively.

A Trip to Austin
A recent excursion to Austin made me realize how wonderful the world can be. It had the homeless, sure, but they are people too. I learned a lot from the conference the four of us attended. It was a large media conference that was taught by some of the best teachers Texas had to offer. Their experiences showed the youth -including me- how journalism and writing has evolved and how to adapt to these circumstances.
Hopefully, I’ll have some pictures up soon enough to show you the wonder that is Austin, TX. Feel free to comment about your own experiences in this city whether good or bad, strange or normal, fun or boring. I may even reconnect with some of you that actually attended.
The capitol building. A beauty, ain’t she?
